The Friend 2 Friend Play Centre located at 2941 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC, Canada, provides state-of-the-art individualized peer play programs, the first of their kind to focus on the core needs of children with autism and their peers by combining the award-winning research-based Integrated Play Groups®, SCERTS® and Friend 2 Friend models. Integrated Play Groups Research
The Friend 2 Friend – Integrated Play Groups programs are inclusive peer play programs designed to engaged novice players (children with autism or related needs) and expert players (typically developing children with advance social, communication and play skills) in meaningful play experiences. Groups are designed to promote social, communication, emotional regulation, imaginative play and friendships between the novice and expert players. Unlike most programs for children with autism that focus on adult directed remediation of social skill deficits where peers are either not a part of or relegated to a similar role as the adult, the Friend 2 Friend - Integrated Play Groups programs are child centered with a focus on guiding the learning and development of children with autism and their peers while participating in mutually engaging social play experiences. All play groups are guided by Master Guides and Play Guides who are highly trained professionals.
