The Friend 2 Friend Integrated Play Groups programs combine the award-winning Integrated Play Groups®, Friend 2 Friend Autism Demystification® and SCERTS® models. Our programs focus on the development of the social, communication, emotional regulation and peer play competencies of all the children participating in the programs.
Drama Integrated Play Groups
are offered once per week in 60-minute sessions, after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from September to June each year. The sessions are held only at our Play Centre in New Westminster and consist of small stable groups of children, 1-2 novice players (children with autism or related needs) and 2-3 expert players (typically developing peers) ages 10 to 16 years. Under the guidance of highly trained professionals, each session is designed to meet the social, communication and play needs of the novice and expert players as they participate in mutually engaging weekly play themes and activities.
After attending our free parent training, novice players and their families are invited to join our programs. Our Parent training is the first step to fully understanding our unique and innovative peer play programs, as well as, ensuring our Integrated Play Groups® programs are the right fit for your child before registering.
Additional registration information can be found here. Families are also invited to contact our Intake Coordinator for additional information.
Expert players are same aged peers, who are typically developing with advanced social, communication and peer social play skills and who remain well regulated even during times of change or excitement. They attend the programs completely free of charge and may register online at any time. Expert player’s registration click here.
