Friend 2 Friend Play Centres
programs combine the award-winning Integrated Play Groups®, Friend 2 Friend Autism Demystification® and SCERTS® models. Our programs focus on the development of the social, communication, emotional regulation and peer play competencies of all the children participating in the programs.
The programs are provided at our Play Centres in East Vancouver and New Westminster. The programs provide individuals with autism (novice players), their peers (expert players) and their families with evidence-based, peer play intervention programs.
Unlike most programs for children with autism that focus on adult directed remediation of social skill deficits where peers are either not a part of relegated to a similar role as the adult. Our peer play programs are child-led with a focus on guiding the learning and development of novice and expert players while participating in mutually engaging social play experiences.
“Originated by Pamela Wolfberg, PhD this is an evidence-based practice* designed to provide intensive guidance for children on the autism spectrum to engage with typical peers/siblings in mutually enjoyed play experiences. Extensions of the IPG model include drama, dance, yoga, visual arts, multi-media arts, and other culturally valued activities that are of high interest for various age groups.”
“It is a profound privilege to partner with Heather McCracken and her fabulous team in delivering state-of-the-art programs that bring children together in the true spirit of play and friendship.” Pamela Wolfberg, Ph.D.
