Puppet Presentations
Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society's Puppet Presentations are unique and innovative program that provide autism demystification and educational training for children ages 3 to 11.
Friend 2 Friend's presenters use child-size puppets to act out specifically tailored scripts which focus on differences, similarities and friendships for children with ASD and their peers.
The 5 key learning goals of each Puppet Presentation are to:
- Recognize and accept difference in ourselves and others.
- Recognize individuals with ASD as valuable friends.
- Recognize that it is important to ask question and express feelings.
- Empathize with what it feels like to have ASD.
- Promote positive relationships with all children.
Our puppet presentations also include our Seven Friendship Tips which which support successful social interacts between children on the autism spectrum and their typically developing peers.
Each 45-minute Puppet Present includes the following learning opportunities:
- The Intro → Introduction and assigned observer
- The Puppet Play → Visual learning opportunity
- What Did Crystal Learn? → Visual and auditory learning opportunity
- Pass the Puppet Circle → Tactile learning opportunity
- Questions and Answers → Open dialogue
- Stickers → Transfer training
Friend 2 Friend Follow-up Resources:
Following the presentation we will provide a Friend 2 Friend Follow-Up Guide and That’s What’s Different About Me Story/Colouring book. These follow-up resources contain relevant information on including children on the autism spectrum in inclusive classroom and community settings.
Please Note:
Friend 2 Friend provides inclusive autism demystification programming for children and adults. We encourage the participation of all children including those on the autism spectrum. The word “autism” is mentioned during programs, in a sensitive and respectful manner. However, the child on the autism spectrum is never singled out or identified in any manner
