Friend Satellite Training Program Overview
The Friend 2 Friend Satellite Training Program is a process by
which other non-profit societies or school based professionals
may become certified in the delivery of the Friend 2 Friend Programs.
We do not sell the Friend 2 Friend programs. To become an official
service provider of the Friend 2 Friend Programs, organizations
must undertake the training offered by Friend 2 Friend Social
Learning Society. To qualify as an official Friend 2 Friend Satellite,
organizations must successfully complete all five steps to receive
certification to the deliver the programs in each level of training.
The levels of training available through the Satellite Training
Program are outlined below: |
The Friend 2 Friend Programs are designed
to be carried out by a qualified and highly trained presentation
team of Program Guides. The team is made up of three Program Guides,
each of which has a unique role - a Lead Presenter,
a Program Assistant and a Program Presenter.
The Lead Presenter
This person is responsible for the delivery of the programs on
site. They are professionals currently working in the field as
well as being closely related to an individual on the autism spectrum,
such as a parent, sibling, aunt or uncle etc. The Lead Presenter
trainees must show exceptional skills in:
- Classroom settings with young children,
- Therapeutic environments with young children,
- Exceptional public speaking skills
- Exposure to theatre arts,
- Organized and professional,
- A child-centred approach to teaching,
To take training as a Friend 2 Friend lead presenter
candidates must be currently working as a:
- Speech and Language Pathologist
- Primary School Educator
- Early Childhood Educator
- Child Psychologist
The Program Assistant Trainee
This person will assist in the delivery of the Friend 2 Friend
programs under the direction of the lead presenter. To train as
a Program Assistant we recommend candidates who are students currently
studying in the areas as stated above or para-professional currently
working in the field. Program Assistant Trainees must be: currently
working with children, extremely organized and professional, they
must be comfortable in the classroom setting, have good class
management skills, have had some exposure to theatre arts and
must have a child-centered approach to teaching.
The Program Presenter Trainee
This person will assist in the delivery of the Puppet Presentation
programs under the direction of the Program Assistant. To train
as a Program Presenter we recommend candidates who are parents
or other close family members of children on the autism spectrum,
or practicum students in the areas listed above. Program Presenters
must be organized and have a child- centered approach to teaching.
