Program Overview

The Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society's (F2FSLS) Satellite Training is a long-term partnership program between Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society (F2FSLS) and other non-profit organizations (satellite candidate organization). F2FSLS will provide training to certify the satellite candidate organization to deliver the Friend 2 Friend Autism Demystification Programs (Puppet Presentations and Simulation Game Presentations) "live" in the same manner and quality as the teams deliver the programs throughout BC, Alberta and Vermont. Organizations interested in undergoing satellite training will be required to have had exposure to the programs through visiting a live presentation in progress (with one of the F2F teams) and/or attending seminar training in the F2F model before undergoing the program. Friend 2 Friend offers individualized training and consultation which is tailored to the unique needs of the satellite candidate organization.

The Training

The satellite candidate organization will provide a team of 3 to 5 qualified individuals (click here for qualifications) to undergo 5-8 days of training with Heather McCracken in your area and follow-up training with the F2F Team Vancouver. The training and consultation is tailored to the unique needs of the satellite candidate organization. The general overview of the training consists of several steps or phases. They are as follows:

  • Pre-training materials
  • Puppet Presentation Program Training
  • Written report following completion of training
  • Field Work
  • Simulation Game Presentation Program Training
  • Evaluation
  • Written Report/Certification

To undergo training the satellite candidate organization must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a federally registered non-profit society
  • Operating for more than 5 years
  • Currently offering outreach services/programs in the community
  • Have a volunteer board of directors
  • Have 3-5 highly qualified paid or volunteer trainees (click here for qualifications)
  • Have the resources (human and financial) to successfully implement the F2F Programs in their community
  • Have exposure to the Friend 2 Friend Programs (observed programs, attended seminar)

Friend 2 Friend offers this training on a limited case-by-case basis. We accept only one organization into this program per year.
