Community Implementation Team Training »»
Beginning September 2010, Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society (F2F) is piloting a new project entitled "Can I Play Too: Capacity Building Project for Supporting Young Children on the Autism Spectrum". With the support of the Vancouver Foundation, Autism Speaks Canada, The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism and the Tula Foundation. Friend 2 Friend will be offering this program to ten communities throughout British Columbia completely free of charge.
The Can I Play Too? project will enable F2F to reach more children throughout BC with our signature autism demystification puppet program. Using a train the trainer model, F2F will partner with school district and community organizations to provide the materials and training to support the implementation of our Can I Play Too?: Autism Demystification Puppet Packaged Program with children age 3 through 12 throughout BC.
Each community/school district participating in the Can I Play Too project will receive several copies of our Can I Play Too: Autism Demystification Puppet Presentation Packaged Program to be used in promoting social inclusion, play and friendship for children on the autism spectrum (and their peers) ages 3 through 12 and a one-day Facilitator's Workshop designed to prepare participants to implement the Can I Play Too? Packaged Program in schools and other community settings. The Facilitator's Workshop will be delivered by Heather McCracken, the creator of the Friend 2 Friend Programs and Founder/Executive Director of Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society.
Schools/school districts, supported child development centres and other community partners serving children who are interested in learning more about how your community may be eligible to participate, please contact our office.
