Course Overview

Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society’s Early Childhood and the Autism Spectrum is a professional development workshop or online course, specially designed for Early Childhood Educators and parents of young children with and without autism ages 3 to 7. 

Using real-life case studies, video instruction and interactive activities, this course is designed to support participants to gain a better understanding of the peer play and friendship needs of young children with autism. Using an interactive learning environment and real-life case studies, video instruction and interactive activities to support the participant’s capacity to create affinity-based, peer play and friendship activities. 

Learning Objectives

Early Childhood and the Autism Spectrum learning objectives are to prepare participants to:

    • Identify the challenges young children face in playing and making friends.
    • Understand the Critical Success Factors for supporting peer play and friendships at preschool and daycare.
    • Apply the tools provided in the development of affinity-based peer play and friendship activities for young children.

This self-directed course takes users between 2 and 3 hours to complete (3 hours of professional development). Upon completion, you may download a certificate of participation to submit for professional development.
