Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society’s Early Childhood and the Autism Spectrum course will expand your knowledge and skills in supporting peer play and friendships develop between young children with autism and their peers in preschools and daycares and at home.

Early Childhood and the Autism Spectrum is a specialized course designed for early childhood educators and parents of young children with autism. The focus of this session is to provide an interactive seminar or online course, using real-life case studies, video instruction, and interactive activities to support the participant’s capacity to support peer play and friendships at preschool and daycares.

Course Overview

Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society’s Early Childhood and the Autism Spectrum Online Course is a professional development, specially designed for Early Childhood Educators and parents of young children with and without autism ages 3 to 7. 

This course is designed to support participants to gain a better understanding of the peer play and friendship needs of young children with autism. Using an interactive learning environment and real-life case studies, video instruction and interactive activities to support the participant’s capacity to create affinity-based, peer play and friendship activities.

Course Learning Objectives

 

Early Childhood and the Autism Spectrum learning objects are to prepare participants to:

  • Identify the challenges young children face in playing and making friends.
  • Understand the Critical Success Factors for supporting peer play and friendships at preschool and daycare.
  • Apply the tools provided in the development of affinity-based peer play and friendship activities for young children.
